WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR CAR: 1pm - 6.30pm On Saturday 11th June the main village road between the junction with Puddleduck Lane to the north and the Reading Room to the south will be closed to all traffic for a street party. We hope you’ll be there – please come! But just in case you can’t be, or an emergency arises, please read this carefully and keep it handy until the 11th June. If you live between or opposite the crossroads and the War Memorial Please help clear the street by putting your car(s) in the garage or drive, by asking any guests or visitors to park north of the village crossroads, and by parking your own car north of Puddleduck Lane if you think you may need it for any reason between 1pm and 6.30pm. If you live south of the War Memorial, your normal parking arrangements won’t be affected, but any guests, visitors or contractors will not be able to reach you, so please warn them to park north of the village crossroads. And please leave your own car north of the crossroads if you think there is any likelihood of you needing it. If you live north of the village crossroads, you’ve guessed it – other villagers will need to leave their cars in the main village road north of the crossroads and probably also in Cherry Orchard, between 1pm and 6.30pm. Thank you in advance for putting up with this, and please look on the bright side - it’s going to be a terrific tea party and at least you and your visitors will not be otherwise inconvenienced! If it is raining, the event will be held in the Great Barn and the road will not be closed! If you need advice or think you will need help regarding the road closure between 1pm and 6.30pm on Saturday 11th June, please contact the Neighbourhood Watch Councillor on [email protected] Short let required for a couple, around approx. 15th June for approx. 6 weeks. Please contact ([email protected]).

I am proposing to host a paramotoring event at Colleymore over four days: 25 - 28 June, which runs over a weekend. The event is the British Open Paramotoring Championship and the expectation is that around 30 competitors will take part over the weekend. The most appropriate field for the event is shown on the attached document.
It is around 1/2 kilometre from the nearest house at Great Coxwell and the only impact that the event is likely to have on the village is from the noise of the paramotors as they take off and return. I have been learning to paramotor for a couple of years and you may have heard my paramotor in that field when I have been practising. > > The organisers will make sure that the competitors do not fly over the village, so there should not be any impact from that, and there will be no crowds or extra vehicle movements as it isn’t a spectator sport, but I am sure that the noise of the paramotors as they take off and land will be audible – I guess a paramotor engine noise is not dissimilar to a chainsaw over that distance. Various studies have been conducted on noise levels from Paramotors. They tested a range of engines and found them to be in the range of up to 100-120db at the pilots' heads (right next to the engine) and 85-105db at their feet. It did not study the dropoff at further distances, but use of an online calculator such as http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-distance.htm suggests that a 110db noise measured at 1m from the source will drop to 63db at 200m distance - within the realms of normal conversational volume, and even lower 56db at 500m - the approximate distance to the village. Please do come back to the Parish Council with any queries, or concerns that you would like addressed. I am sure that weather permitting we could do a take off and landing from the field so that you could assess the likely impact of the noise from the village if you were concerned about it.
