CLOSING DATE FRIDAY 23rd AUGUST
=============================== OCC are writing to seek your views on the proposal to introduce a 50mph speed limit on the A420 Swindon to Oxford road in place of existing sections of 60mph National limit in order as to create a continuous limit between Bourton & Hinton Waldrist, joining up with the section eastwards to the start of the Southmoor/Kingston Bagpuize bypass. Additional speed limit amendments will also be made on roads adjoining the A420 in order to help facilitate continuity of the new limit; Faringdon Road (Watchfield), Fernham Road (Little Coxwell), Park Road and London Street (Faringdon), and the A417 Stanford Road from Faringdon). The proposals are being put forward for road safety reasons and are part of the County Council's commitment to ‘Vision Zero’, which includes the elimination of deaths & serious injuries from road traffic collisions in Oxfordshire by 2050. The Vision Zero programme aims to ensure the highway network is safely designed, implemented and maintained. Vision Zero focuses on a whole safe system approach, rooted in the belief that every death reflects a human failure in the system. This ensures that the programme is not just a technical solution but also encourages a behaviour change and cultural shift towards a more human-based approach to road safety. Further details are available here. Details are available to view on the Councils consultation portal at the address below: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/shrivenhamfaringdon_a420corridor_speeds2024 Any objections or other representations on the proposals should be submitted by Friday 23rd August 2024. We have added a Welcome page for people moving into the village - it pulls together useful information for villagers new and old.
Any feedback please [email protected] Regards, GCPC The National Trust has confirmed that the works to address missing tiles on the Barn roof will commence on Monday 8th July 2024.
The works will take place around the whole of the roof until all missing tiles have been replaced. There will be some scaffolding going up, which will be moved around the building as works progress. The National Trust plans to do an annual check and replace tiles each summer going forward and invited any queries to the Facilities Manager, Coleshill Estate. Reading Room Independent Examination of Accounts Councillor Lead Roles Document Financial Regulations The Parish Council is doing its best to get the first ‘verge cut’ completed as soon as possible. The cut includes cutting along ‘Siberia’ and the footpath that runs from Cherry Orchard behind ‘the Ranch’ and the pavement along the Coxwell Road. We will also ask if the contractors can do the visibility splays at the top of the Holloway if OCC haven’t got round to that by the time they attend. Hopefully, this will make getting around easier soon. We had requested the cut as early in June as possible but the contractors are very busy due to so many towns and parishes like ourselves delaying their cuts due to no-mow May.
Since 2017, the parish council have been responsible for cutting the grass on the verges within the current 20mph zone of the village as well as the Siberia and behind the Ranch footpaths. The requirement is that we cut them at least once a year. However, we budget for at least 2 cuts and we do want to keep them passable, so we apologise that the timing has been off this year and we will reconsider how we time the cuts for next year. The areas outside the 20mph zone are not our official responsibility and whilst we do get some of them cut, they remain an OCC statutory responsibility and can be reported on fix my street if you feel that is necessary. Green Infrastructure and Open Space - public survey As part of this we are asking residents and organisations to complete a short online survey to understand how you use greenspaces in your local area. This ranges from parks and recreation grounds to natural spaces like woodlands and meadows. The survey runs from Thursday 30 May to Sunday 30 June 2024. Please take part in the survey here: South Oxfordshire & Vale of White Horse GI and Open Space Public Survey The following finance documents have been updated on the Parish Council Finance Page here.
