We are doing the same programme at Buscot Park, a week later, but that venue is now sold out.
Best wishes,
Lynette

Aleksei and I are looking forward to performing this recital at St Giles. Do come if you can, some of the repertoire we are playing will include some old favourites. We would welcome donations, with some of it going towards the church and the upkeep of the piano.

Please find the flyer of our next Stonevale Concert at St Giles. We are very lucky to host the prizewinners of the Musical Odyssey every year. This international course is held in Greece and this time, we will have Lithuanian soprano, Valerija Llijn and Romanian pianist Andra Bacila to perform a voice and piano recital for us. Email me to book seats, you are also of course welcome to just come on the day - although it is always good to reserve a seat, and helpful to know how many people to expect to make sure we have enough wine! Best wishes, Lynette We are approaching the most important time in the Church's calendar. The following services are available for worship during this Easter period:
Maundy Thursday (28th) at 6pm - Holy Communion at All Saints, Coleshill Good Friday (29th) at 2pm - A meditation on the Last Hour at St Giles, Great Coxwell Easter Day (31st) 10.30am - Holy Communion at St Mary's, Buscot We hope you will join us at one or more of these. The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) for St Giles Church is fast approaching (Tuesday 30th April 2024 at 7pm in the Reading Room). In preparation of this, we need to revise our Church’s electoral roll so we now invite people to apply to be on that roll.
Why should you be on the St Giles’ electoral roll?
To qualify for the electoral roll Any lay person is entitled to have their name entered on the Church’s roll if the person is: (a) baptised (b) aged 16 or over (c) or can make one of the following declarations when applying for enrolment:
Sylvia Athawes (07923 563662) [email protected] or the Vicar Maureen Turner (01367 240875), or the Church Warden, Pat Cook It's the last chance to be in all the 2024 draws - Biddy and John will be doing the January and February 100 Club draw this weekend, so if you meant to join but just haven't had time, this is for you! £20 per person for the year, all the proceeds go to St Giles Church.
To ensure you (and and all your family and friends) are in the draw, please print the form, fill in the names of participants and return the slip below to Biddy Rounce, Glebe House. If you have any queries, please contact Sylvia (241179) or Pat. Thank you. Link to form Mothering Sunday - this Sunday, 10th March!
Have you remembered that this Sunday is Mothering Sunday? I know a lot of people haven't realised. We will be having a service in the church at 10.30 am to celebrate our mothers. Please do come and join us. There will be posies for all the ladies (you don't have to be a mother, we all have or had one!) and coffee/tea and cake afterwards. We look forward to seeing you. Pat Dear all, just a reminder about the two concerts coming in the church. Tickets are completely free, but donations will be welcome, and will go towards the upkeep of the church as well as the piano. You can make donations and book at:
https://www.whitehorseconcerts.co.uk/stonevaleconcerts or reserve your seat by emailing me ([email protected]). STONEVALE CONCERTS Friday 8th March at 7 pm, Abingdon School's talented musicians will reach out to our community and give a concert in the church. Instruments including bassoon, clarinet, piano, cello, violin, trumpet and piano trio. Please come and support these youngsters, as they are hugely talented and you will really enjoy the playing and their lovely personalities. And on Sunday, the 10th of March at 4 pm, Manus Noble (worldclass guitarist) will return and give us a concert, on not only the guitar, but a few more related instruments. Manus of course needs no introduction as he has been several times, and his concerts and personality on stage are breathtaking. This concert is part of a tour of the country that Manus will be undertaking, and we are very lucky to form part of this highly acclaimed tour. Church Newsletter - Spring edition
The Church Newsletter is now available - see link. It contains the list of Sunday and Easter services which may be of interest to villagers. Printed copies are available in St Giles' Church, though we would be happy to deliver these to people's homes on request. Badbury Parish News is available for download on the Badbury Group of Churches page. |
