THURSDAY 10TH DECEMBER 2015. The Faringdon and District Branch will hold its December meeting on 10th December at 2.30pm in the Faringdon Corn Exchange. The speaker will be Reggie Heyworth, owner and director of the Cotswold Wildlife Park. He will tell us about the day to day work in running the Park, in maintaining the rare species breeding programme, and talk about the care provided for the animals. All members are free but visitors will be required to contribute £1.50. Refreshments are available after the talk. Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th November, 11 am - 5 pm Great Coxwell Artists are coming together in one place for Christmas Artweeks to show and sell their work in the run-up to Christmas. There will, as usual, be a variety of artists including Karen Vogt with her stunning stone carving and ceramics, Uffington Pottery with their gorgeous jugs, mugs and pots, Handmade Books with a stack of notebooks and folders in pretty papers and bright book cloths, Town & Green Jewellery with their exquisite handmade silver & semi-precious stone jewellery, Sam Thulin will be there with her beautiful cards, paintings and prints and John Rounce with his wonderful photography. Joe and Rob who were up at the Great Barn demonstrating have a table full of carved and turned wooden delights. Sarah Lock is coming with her oat oil hand-cream. Christmas decorations as well as Christmas cakes, puddings, jams and jellies made in the village, all delicious, all for sale. Tasty coffees, lunches and teas plus mulled wine, as well as mince pies, cakes and much more will be available on both days. Once again we hope to offer free Christmas crafts for children on the afternoon of Saturday 28th November, in the Pump Rooms, before the Christmas lights are turned on.
Anyone interested in helping with the crafts is welcome to join us at a planning meeting on Tuesday 13 October, 7.45, at Katie McNicholl's home. Gigaclear are a local (Abingdon) company who provide fast broadband to rural communities. The way they work is to get people to register interest and if there is enough interest they will consider installing fibre to the village, this can replace both phone and ADSL. Once you are connected you pay a minimum monthly amount of £38.80 + a connection fee.
