Asylum Welcome, Oxford

5/9/2021

People arriving from Afghanistan are still in need of support and supplies.

We thought it might be helpful to have a common list and collection point for any Great Coxwell villagers who might like to contribute - we know some folk have already made generous donations.

Sally Tipple has kindly offered to collect things at Clayton Villa. Please drop off any donations by 18 September, or as soon as you like.

We've checked in with Asylum Welcome in Oxford and, in particular, they're collecting:

✅Rice
✅Tinned tomatoes
✅Chickpeas
✅Milk (UHT)
✅Tinned sweetcorn
✅Tinned beans
✅Tinned fruit
✅Baked beans
✅Sanitary products

people can also drop off at 3 Danes Court or call Richard on 07896 239113 with any questions.

Saturday 4th September, 9.30 am

At last we are able to have our usual joint effort to do the annual 'major clean' for St Giles. So I hope you are able to come - this Saturday at 9.30 - and do your favourite bit(!) and then come back to Hollycroft for coffee and cake afterwards.

Are you interested in learning about Yoga but don't know where to start?

Join Rachel for a 5 week beginners Yoga course on Mondays at The Ranch in Great Coxwell. This course will start on September 6th @ 6:30PM.

Movements will be supported with props such as chairs and bolsters to make the practice more accessible.

This course includes a 20 min phone consultation so I know what adjustments to the practice will be needed for each student.

Contact Rachel Wannerton on 07928583879 or [email protected] to book your place or ask any questions you may have.

I hope to practice with you soon.

-Rachel

P.S- Yoga is for everybody, you don't have to be flexible to start practicing!

St Giles Church - Harvest Festival

29/8/2021

Saturday, 25th September – Barbecue at the Vicarage 5pm

This is for all villagers to come and join Maureen for a sociable evening.

It would be useful to have an idea of numbers for catering purposes for this free event, so perhaps you could let me know if you intend to come ([email protected] or 01367 241632).

I shall send out a reminder nearer the time, but please put it in your diaries and come and join in.

Great Coxwell ‘Deep Cleanse’

23/8/2021

The South & Vale Waste Team will be in Great Coxwell for 3 days from 21 to 25 October to carry out a ‘deep cleanse’. This consists of litter picking, sweeping and removing weeds/moss from pavements. They will not spray weeds, cut grass or vegetation or remove weeds or moss on roads. This work will not include footpaths or right of ways as these are the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council.

They are willing to accommodate our requests for areas we feel that they should concentrate on and have provided a table to collate these and to list their relative priorities which is attached. If anyone has any suggestions, would you please use this table and return it to me at [email protected]. I’ll collate the replies and send the table to the South & Vale Waste Team.

Could you please send your suggestions to me by Wednesday, 8th September.

Thanks very much, Mike Harris
