We had to have our grey pony Smokey put down on New Year's Eve. He was 20 year's old and had progressive lameness caused by a tumour. We had had him for 15 years, and he was much loved, and enjoyed all the attention he got from people passing by and stopping to talk to him as they walked down Dark Lane. Between 17.12.17 (20:00) and 18.12.17 (09:00) a property in Great Coxwell was burgled. Entry was gained via a front door. If you have seen any suspicious looking vehicles or people in the area or have any information relating to this message, please call the police via the 24 hour non- emergency telephone number 101. Alternatively, if you have any information but wish to remain anonymous, please call crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online @ crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court. The Annual January Japes will be held in the Faringdon Corn Exchange on Thursday 11th January 2018. Times are 12.15 for 12.30 start. Details of the meal will be available in the magazine or online in December, and tickets at £15.00 each need to be booked in advance. The meal will be followed by entertainment by Dave Headey, a local singer and actor. This promises to be different and “special”.
Members who do not wish to come to the meal are welcome to come to the entertainment only at 2.30pm. U3A is also branching out with a film on “Coast and Sea” on Thursday 18th January in the Corn Exchange at 2.30pm. The film comes from the “Britain on Film” series which is newly produced by the Independent Cinema Office in conjunction with the British Film Institute.
