This Christmas, for one night only, the centre of Faringdon will be transformed into Bethlehem!
Faringdon Town Council has partnered with Faringdon Dramatic Society, Faringdon All Saints’, Faringdon Baptist Church and many other local organisations and community members in order to create a spectacular nativity for everyone to come and see. The Faringdon Town Nativity will take place on Friday 8th December, in the market square at 6pm and will include live acting, live singing, spectacular lightning and sound, beautiful lanterns, a donkey and three real camels! The event is free and open to all and we do hope you can join us to share this wonderful event. For further information, please visit www.faringdontowncouncil.gov.uk Great Coxwell are holding their Christmas Fair again on Sunday 3rd December, to raise money for the Church and the Park.
It would be lovely to see you there. Highlights are: Lots of the highest quality handmade jewellery, books, wooden bowls and boards, pottery, Hand salve, Pauline’s delectable Christmas cakes, puddings, chutneys etc, and lots more. To eat on the day we have mulled wine, spicy soup, mince pies and delicious cakes. Also lucky dip and a Christmas hamper is being raffled. WE HOPE YOU CAN COME! And do bring along anyone else you think might like to come too. If anyone could lend a hand for just an hour or two that would be wonderful. Contact Annabelle via newsletter email. Its great fun! The Reading Room in the village is a charity and is run by Trustees (Parish Council) and is administered voluntarily by the Parish Clerk and RFO. There is also a cleaner.
A bookings clerk is needed to help look after bookings. The regular bookings made by the Parish Council, WI, church and the Sunday teas are booked in advance and these groups take care of the Reading Room and ensure it's left in good condition. We need someone to look after the other bookings i.e. Elections, private parties, weddings etc, this involves booking in, liaising with the hirer on Reading Room facilities/Instructions, collecting the money and checking Reading Room left in good condition. We need someone ASAP. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested or would like some more info. Thames Valley Police have just published the November Newsletter.

Planning permission has been granted in ‘outline’ for this site and requires a number of reserved matters to be address before full permission is granted. This offers an opportunity to challenge the decision. A Faringdon based group have got together to raise awareness and protest about this ‘developer driven’ housing strategy. Their first meeting is tomorrow - Friday 17th November in the Old Town Hall at 7.00pm. For more info contact the secretary : [email protected] Full details on the Concerts page.
Parking Opposite the Reading Room so emergency vehicles can still get by.
The road is very narrow at the Reading Room and there is not really room for vehicles to park right outside the Room and still leave space for emergency vehicles to get by, especially with the stones in front of Hillside. Please park mindfully and always make sure you have left plenty of room for road users. Thank you. Saturday 25th November
